I can minimize it with the mod by just making transparent crosshair but I was kinda hoping to be able to make it disappear during regular play but appear during the debug GUI. I've tested with the internal renderer, BSL 0.8 and SEUS HRR 2.1 and the crosshair is always visible. Tried with a custom Arrow cursor as well as the default. Are the visibility checkbox settings meant to work? As in I had hoped "Visible by default" being unchecked would remove the crosshair.
